Once upon a Time… add a little dance magic to your favourite Fairy Tale. Dance 16

2016 dance flyer - webThis year’s key theme is ‘Once upon a Time… add a little dance magic to your favourite Fairy Tale’. Stretching over four nights at the Victoria Hall, it involved 1,500 performers from the age of 5 to 25 from 68 Stoke-on-Trent infant, primary, special, high schools and newly formed academies and City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College and local universities. Over four nights an audience of nearly 3,000 including proud parents, grandparents, teachers, head teachers, principals and VIP’s will be wowed by the performers.

Dance 2016 is a classic example of the willingness of schools, academies and colleges working together in a true spirit of partnership and collaboration and demonstrates how the School Sport Partnership network is alive and well in the City of Stoke-on-Trent.

Despite the uncertain economic times and re-structuring taking place in our City, schools are very keen to maximise the chances of our young people to engage in fun healthy lifelong pursuits.

Many of the performances on show will be choreographed by Dance leaders from the local High schools, Academies and Stoke Sixth Form College and this reflects the range of high quality leadership and volunteering that exists across Stoke. Leaders will visit Primary schools to run after school Dance club rehearsals and prepare the children to perform on the night.

Dance 2016 is supported this year by The Ambassador Group and Barclays Bank and financial contributions from local ward councillors.
